Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 may be delayed for Samsung Galaxy S22 to launch on time
New rumors show that the Covid outbreak in Samsung facilities can cause the delay in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, even though it is not expected to influence the release date of the Samsung Galaxy S22.
Eleven employees at the R5 Tower of Samsung Digital City Campus in the city of Suwon, Korea tested positive for Covid, YouTuber Super Roaders (and former Samsung employees) told Letsgodigital – the same building as the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy Tab S8.
The report claims that Samsung takes more stringent steps than the previous outbreak and 70% of employees need to work from home, which means only 30% of the rest will have access to sensitive developer devices that remain in the R5 Tower. This is what is thought to be leading to the delay that will encourage the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8.
This incident is said to not affect the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S22, which is expected in early January. The Super Roader uploaded the video that discussed the situation, where it reasoned that considering the history of prioritizing the S-series cellphone on the development of tablet series-tabs and limited access to the device, Samsung would choose to get the S22 on time on the S8 tab, which led to the last delay.
Analysis: Samsung Galaxy S22 is still on track … for now
It will not be surprising to know that Samsung prioritizes the S22 series on the S8 tab – they only sell far more than the first than the last. In Q1 2021, Samsung sold more than 75 million smartphones but only 8 million tablets (per IDC report separated on telephone and tablet sales).
But the Samsung Galaxy S22 may come out a little slower than usual. A rumor initially claimed that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE which had matured would take the leading cellphone launch window in early January and pushed S22 to the day.
Other rumors by Leaker Registrar, Jon Proser, gave a certain date that reflects the prediction: S21 FE will be launched on January 4, 2022 to go on sale January 11, while the S22 will be launched on February 8 for sale February 18. We have to see whether the date is out – and when the S8 tab can be launched afterwards.
